Student award


After the abstracts have been evaluated, the event Secretariat will send an online form to all those responsible for submitting approved abstracts, so that the author can choose which of the awards below he/she would like to participate in, according to the established rules.

Students may apply for all awards, provided they meet each society’s requirements to compete for the award. Only the UNITAS Malacologica awards will be open to all students without affiliation to any society.

AMERICAN MALACOLOGICAL SOCIETY (AMS)

Constance Boone Award – AMS MEMBERSHIP

The Constance Boone Award, presented annually by the American Malacological Society, recognizes outstanding student presentations in malacology, evaluating oral and poster contributions based on criteria such as originality, completeness, and presentation quality, with four winners receiving $500 each.

Student Travel Award

The American Malacological Society (AMS) offers Student Travel Awards to help support student participation at the Annual Meeting. These awards are granted on a competitive basis and are intended to assist students who will be presenting their research at the conference.

2025 SCOR Travel Award – For all attendants from eligible countries except Brazil

The AMS JEDI Committee, in partnership with the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR), is offering travel awards to support early career researchers from developing countries who will present marine research at the 2025 WCM/AMS Annual Meeting.

MALACOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF AUSTRALASIA TRAVEL GRANT

The Malacological Society of Australasia will support a student based in the Australasia region with $2,500 Australian Dollars towards travel expenses to attend the World Congress of Malacology in 2025.
Deadline: 25 April 2025, 12pm AEST
Results announced on 1 May 2025

Eligibility:
Applicants must be based in Australasia.
Applicants must have submitted an abstract to the WCM by the time of grant disbursement.

Conditions:
Funds must only be used for conference registration, travel to and from the conference venue, and/or conference accommodation. If unforeseen circumstances prevent the awardee from attending the conference, any refunded costs and unspent funds must be returned to the MSA.

BRAZILIAN SOCIETY OF MALACOLOGY AWARD (SBMa) MEMBERSHIP

Award: Registration fee for the Brazilian Malacology Meeting (2027) to any student as a presenting author in the following categories

Malacological Research – Dr. Maury Pinto de Oliveira Award

Best Oral Presentation and Best Poster Presentation – Undergraduate

Best Oral Presentation and Best Poster Presentation – Postgraduate

Medical and Applied Malacology – Dr. Wladimir Lobato Paraense

Best Oral Presentation and Best Poster Presentation – Undergraduate

Best Oral Presentation and Best Poster Presentation – Postgraduate

UNITAS Malacological Award – UM membership is not required

Award: to any student as a presenting author in the following categories

1st Best Oral Presentation, 2nd Best Oral Presentation, and 3rd Best Oral Presentation
