Congress Code of Conduct
WCM aims to disseminate knowledge and promote the exchange of scientific ideas; to provide a forum for the presentation of research; to enable participants to establish and renew collaborations and to network within an international community; and to facilitate the recruitment of students and staff to various institutions worldwide. We aim to create an environment in which all attendees can participate without experiencing any form of harassment, intimidation, discrimination or violence. All participants and their allies must be treated with respect regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, ethnicity, ability, religion, language, professional status, institution, national origin, socioeconomic status or age. All meeting participants, including but not limited to members, volunteers, attendees, vendors, exhibitors, contractors, and guests, are expected to abide by this Meeting Code of Conduct.
Expected behaviour includes (but is not limited to):
- Treating all participants and meeting facilities with respect and consideration.
- Communicating openly with respect for others; critiquing ideas and hypotheses rather than individuals.
- Avoiding any form of personal attack on others.
- Respecting the rules and policies of the meeting venue, hotels, or other contracted facilities.
- Adhering to the principles of academic integrity and ethical professional conduct.
Consequences: Local meeting organisers reserve the right to enforce this Code of Conduct in any manner they deem appropriate. Anyone found to violate the Code of Conduct will first be asked to immediately cease the reported behaviour. Failure to comply will result in escalating consequences that may include (a) removal from the meeting, (b) banning from future meetings, and (c) reporting to the person’s institution.
Reporting: If you are the subject of unacceptable behaviour or have witnessed such behaviour, please notify a member of the Congress team immediately. Reporting can be done by contacting a member of the local organising team (accessible at the Information/Registration desk) or by emailing malacology2025@gmail.com.
Anyone experiencing or witnessing behaviour that poses an immediate or serious threat to individual or public safety in the meeting should contact the venue Security or local law enforcement.
